The Story Behind the Piece

Amarine was photographed on the island of Milos, Greece, and captured on 35mm film. The beach was filled with sunbathers resting effortlessly, donning clothing that could belong to any era. I am drawn to scenes that exist outside of modern time, deliberately avoiding details that anchor an image to the present. This moment felt timeless. I raised my camera instinctively, aware that the image depended on the stillness holding for just a few seconds longer. I got lucky. It did. I took only one frame, knowing intuitively that I had captured the image I was after. When the film returned six weeks later, it was deeply satisfying to see the vision fully realized. Amarine carries a warmth and texture that place it somewhere familiar yet difficult to locate in time, a portrait of summer at its most languid and unhurried.

Shot on 35mm film, the image carries a nostalgic warmth and grain, a hallmark of Portra 400. The composition is rooted in documentary reality, yet feels gently removed from the present, as if it could belong to decades past. Each piece of artwork is printed on museum grade, acid free, fine art paper, with the use of the highest quality archival inks.

Framing

Our solid wood frames are imported from Italy, then cut and joined locally in Southern California. Prints are expertly mounted with a 2-inch mat board to provide the sturdy feel, flush setting and high quality aesthetic you'd find in any fine art gallery. Each frame is handcrafted with a sheet of UV-blocking acrylic glass and comes with self leveling hanging hardware, so your artwork is ready to hang as soon as it arrives.

Shipping is free to all customers in the Continental U.S. All orders will be shipped within 5 business days of the order being placed. Once shipped, you can expect your order to arrive in 3 to 10 days. You will be able to track your packages through a tracking number which will be emailed to you after purchase. Please ensure that your order is being delivered to an address where you can safely acquire your package, as we cannot take responsibility for stolen packages.
